Robb Reed [he/him]
Board Treasurer
Robb’s path began in 1993 with a visit to Thich Nhat Hanh’s monastery in rural France. The deep peace and joy he experienced there set him on a lifelong exploration of the body, heart, and mind—an inquiry that has profoundly shaped both his life and teaching. He teaches Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, at the Center for Spirituality and Healing at the University of Minnesota. He has also offered MBSR at Common Ground, to teacher cohorts through Minneapolis Public Schools, and to staff at the Center for Victims of Torture.
After retiring from teaching ESL in New York City and Minneapolis Public Schools, Robb began dedicating extended time to practice, including 1–3 month retreats at the Insight Meditation Center and Forest Refuge. In 2015, he was ordained as a monk in Myanmar for six weeks. Rooted in the understanding that mindfulness begins with the body, Robb continues to deepen his study of embodied practices, including Qi Gong, somatic experiencing, and yoga. He is currently completing his second 200-hour Viniyoga teacher training at 5 Koshas Yoga and Wellness Center.
